The executive producer of Bioware's upcoming RPG Anthem has spoken out about rumors of the game's delay.
Following Sony's plan to skip next year's E3 conference for the first time ever, as well as the lack of a PlayStation Experience event this year, rumors began to fly about the possibility of Anthem (along with several other titles) being delayed. Some thought that Anthem would skip the current generation entirely and be released for Sony's next-generation console instead, while others suggested a more modest delay of a month or so.
Well, it seems those rumors will have to be put to bed (for now, at least). Anthem's executive producer, Mark Darrah, posted a tweet a couple of days back that was about as succinctly and simply worded as possible. The tweet puts paid to the rumors that Anthem would be delayed and reinforces the game's February 22nd, 2019 release date.
Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean that the game won't be delayed. It hasn't gone gold yet, and until a game goes gold there's still every chance it could be postponed while the team works out kinks or implements necessary improvements. What's more, it's not good PR for Darrah to admit to a delay even if there is one in the pipeline, so it's possible that a delay will be announced later once the dust settles.
That said, Bioware and EA are putting out a pretty solid stream of preview content for Anthem; in the past few months, we've seen gameplay videos, story trailers, and an entire live stream dedicated to the game's Javelins. For the moment, it looks like Darrah is right, and Anthem is still on track for its February release. If any more announcements are made regarding delays, you'll hear them here first.
