Always Sometimes Monsters was a story driven game developed by Vagabond Dog and published by Devolver Digital to Steam, iOS, and Android devices. It was a generally liked game that dealt with mature subjects despite its use of RPG Maker as an engine. Now its getting a follow-up with Sometimes Always Monsters coming later this year.

Sometimes Always Monsters picks up where Always Sometimes Monsters leaves off. After the main character successfully marry the love of his life and has a best selling book on the shelves, he figures he should have a perfect life, right? Yet there's a nagging doubt in his mind that he may not be a good person, and the general notion that the things he did while writing his book weren't correct is starting to get out. To try and get a better perspective on his life, and maybe clear his name, he goes on a cross-country book tour with some other authors. Along the way he'll meet with various people and change their lives, either for better or worse.

If you haven't played Always Sometimes Monsters yet the game is set to go on sale for 90% off this weekend, dropping it to the low low price of 99 cents. Furthermore, anyone who checks out Vagabond Dog's booth at PaX East and plays a demo of Sometimes Always Monsters can also nab a copy of the first game for free.

Sometimes Always Monsters is set to come out later in 2016 on Steam. There is no current price point.

Quick Take:

I feel like they're taking the Nintendo route with names here. Even though they joke about it in the press release, usually it's not a good idea to give two different products super similar names. Still, I'm interested to see where this goes and I'm happy to see the 90% off sale on its way as I've always wanted to give Always Sometimes Monsters a shot and haven't gotten around to it yet.
