Panic Button Studio's head, Adam Creighton, has stepped down from his position today, according to an announcement made on twitter yesterday.

"No details yet, but excited to share I'm moving on to something new!" said Creighton on twitter. "I'm proud of my contribution to Panic Button's success, grateful to the team that helped make that happen, and looking forward to this next phase of working with great games and people in the industry."

Panic Button is not a household name, but many players are likely familiar with their work. Founded in 2007, the Texas-based company is well known for its game ports and 4k updates of titles for the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X. Most notably, Panic Button has worked on the ports of most of the Bethesda catalog for the Nintendo Switch, including DOOM, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Wolfenstein: Youngblood and the upcoming Doom Eternal.

Panic Button is also responsible for the Nintendo Switch ports of Rocket League, Warframe and Torchlight II.

Creighton has worked for Panic Button since 2011, serving as one of the co-owners of the studio for nearly seven years. Prior to Panic Button, he worked as a producer for the Disney Interactive Media. Most notably, he was a producer of Disney's Epic Mickey, released for the Nintendo Wii in 2010.

While Creighton has not revealed who he is working for now, speculation and dot connecting are leading some to wonder if he has taken a job with Retro Studios, mostly because Retro Studios is also based in Austin, Texas and is hiring for its work on Metroid Prime 4. All of this, of course, is not confirmed at this time.

What are your thoughts on all of this? Do you think Creighton is heading to Retro Studios, or is that just wishful thinking by fans on Reddit? Leave your comments below.
