This summer, Wizards of the Coast and Penny Arcade are releasing an Acquisitions Incorporated sourcebook for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. Called the Acquisitions Incorporated Dungeon Manual, it will feature information based on the long-running podcast featuring Penny Arcade co-creators Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins adventuring with an ensemble cast. Christopher Perkins, a producer for Wizards of the Coast, typically acts as the GM. Once used to advertise 4th Edition, the podcast quickly became popular enough to feature at various conventions, including Penny Arcade's own PAX gaming events.

The release will feature new positions and be available through brick-and-mortar game stores and bookstores as well as online retailers. Despite the plethora of homebrew resources available for any iteration of the world's most popular role-playing game, Acquisitions Incorporated Dungeon Manual will mark the first officially-backed third-party 5th Edition content. In an interview with Geekwire, Holkins responds that the Penny Arcade crew took initiative on the project. Wizards approached them as they were about halfway through development, and suggested releasing the content together, instead of the Kickstarter originally planned for the Acquisitions Incorporated Dungeon Manual.

When asked about the possibility of follow-up products, Holkins expressed interest, implying another book was already in the works.

If it does okay, I hope they ask us back! There are a few things hinted at in this book faction-wise that, well… hm. How much to say. Recall that it began life as a Kickstarter – of course, you have to plan for things to go well in those, and if they do you want to have more stuff ready to go. So I already know exactly what the second book could be because we already have an outline and the guts of the book complete. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Holkins also reassured fans that the manual kept Acquisition Incorporated's sometimes morbid sense of humor intact. For those unable to bear the thought of waiting months for the sourcebook's release, no need to worry. Acquisition Incorporated's C Team streams game sessions on Thursdays from 3:30-6:30 PM PST.
