ACA Neo Geo Real Bout Fatal Fury Special

Hamster Co. has announced that Real Bout Fatal Fury Special will be released today (April 19th) on Nintendo Switch.

The game, which was originally released on the Neo Geo back in 1997, will take its place as part of the ACA Neo Geo series, which allows Nintendo Switch players to experience classic Neo Geo titles on their console. Previous games released under the ACA Neo Geo series include titles from the popular Metal Slug and King of Fighters franchises, as well as classic sidescroller Sengoku and fighting game Samurai Shodown. Several games in this series were previously available to download via the Wii Virtual Console service.

Real Bout Fatal Fury Special follows on from its predecessor, simply titled Real Bout Fatal Fury. The game is the sixth title overall in the Fatal Fury series, and the second game to be released in the Real Bout spinoff franchise. Special abolishes the ring-out system of its predecessor, adding a brand new 2-line battle system and refining the series' Power Gauge mechanic.

The entire cast of the original Real Bout Fatal Fury is available to play as in Real Bout Fatal Fury Special, with the addition of four characters from Fatal Fury Special: Tung Fu Rue, Laurence Blood, Cheng Sinzan and Wolfgang Krauser. Krauser also acts as Real Bout Fatal Fury Special's single-player final boss. The new additions, as well as the returning cast, bring the total of playable characters to 19.

Real Bout Fatal Fury Special is available for players to download as of April 19th from the Nintendo Switch eShop. The game will cost players $7.99, in keeping with the rest of the ACA Neo Geo titles.
