In the ongoing saga of Assassin’s Creed: Unity, and its veritable horde of issues there has been yet another minor set of things that have come up.

Dealing with Patch 4’s issue on the XBox One they have updated the patch and added a little more onto it. Xbox One players who have downloaded the patch previously will get 142 MB patch to download – presumably of some minor hotfixes or something that deals with issues. Players who had Patch 3 previously will receive a 5.7 GB download – which is odd given the patch on the PlayStation 4 was over 6 GB making one wonder whats going on there exactly. Those who have no patches will download 6.3 GB Patch.

When Patch 4 was released it was 6.7 GB for all systems, 400 MB greater then what the new version for those who have no patches and a full GB bigger then what those who have Patch 3 is. There’s no known reason for the patch shrinkage in the announcement. Not that Patch 4 has been free of issues – now that the 40GB redownload issue on XBox One is dealt with, one can see the numerous issues on the Ubisoft forum that have come up. It seems to have improved the PlayStation 4 the most but others have had new issues and workarounds for some issues are in the thread and forum.

But, that’s not the only issue for them right now. The wiki, and companion app, Assassin’s Creed Initiates is offline currently. Ubisoft has said that it is in a “continued state of maintenance during the holiday period” which provides no exact period for when it will be fixed. The details on what they are fixing are apparently related to stability issues – and this is what they said:

“The reasoning for this is to minimize the effect from outages to your experience during this time, as well as to allow us work on ensuring the technical stability of the platform.”

One does wonder if the reference to outages during this time refers to possible issues that would occur with the normal rush of people starting the game over the holidays.

There is some good news though – with Initiates down, for people who are online you will have access to all the chests with the golden ACI crest and the rewards within them. So, no need to turn on your smartphone to get the goodies if you are playing Assassin’s Creed: Unity. Do note though, you need to be online to do this.

I've been a gamer for years of various types starting with the Sega Genesis and Shining Force when I was young. If I'm not playing video games, I'm often roleplaying, reading, writing, or pondering things brought up by speculative fiction.

By the end of next year I think it will be playable and will finally buy it xD

Wish they would hurry up and fix the SLI texture flickering on the PC version*. The game has been pretty much unplayable for a multitude of reasons since launch. I still can’t play it without putting myself at risk of a migraine/epileptic fit!

It’s like Watch Dogs all over again. That wasn’t playable for months and it still runs badly now.

*Bioware can pull their fingers out and fix the flickering in DA:I too. It’s funny how we have a spate of similar problems in games. First we had the “stuttering” issue which crippled many games and now it appears as though texture flicking is fashionable.

Sounds more like tessellation issue then texture. Have you tried disabling some FX in game and forcing them trough Drivers? Solved my issues with DXHR.

Lawl 6.3 GIG patch. I used to defend patches when people bitched when they where going past the 1 GIG arguing that some files cannot be patched they need to be replaced etc.

But 6.3 gig, sounds awe full for anyone with a sub 20M/bs connection.

It’s a known issue with SLI on the game. It was fine before the patch!
