The AbleGamers Charity is an organization that's been around in the gaming world for a good few years now. It's well known for promoting accessibility in games, giving disabled gamers the opportunity to play together with everyone else. Now, the AbleGamers G.A.M.E. Day event has been announced and will be taking place in Brooklyn, NY, later in May 2019.
AbleGamers is partnering with New York State Senator Roxanne J. Persaud to bring about Game Accessibility Means Equality (G.A.M.E. Day) to Senate District 19 in Brooklyn, New York. The AbleGamers G.A.M.E. Day event is taking place at the Brookdale University Hospital Cafeteria on May 16, 2019, from 4:00 PM–6:00 PM. "Our entire mission is to defeat social isolation and create play," said AbleGamers Founder Mark Barlet in a press release. "Senator Persaud really sees our vision to utilize video games to bring people with disabilities into amazing communities like the one she represents. We're so proud to be supporting the Senator in bringing more accessibility to New York so everyone can game."
The AbleGamers G.A.M.E. Day event will largely be promoting accessibility in gaming by showing the latest technology in the field. Hands-on demos and conversations with the people behind the technology will be available at the event. Senator Persaud and leadership from The AbleGamers Charity will also be hosting discussions on the topic at hand.
