Nintendo announced its third line of Amiibo figurines for the Wii U and New 3DS. The 3rd wave includes Toon Link, Ike, Lucario, King Dedede, Bowser, Megaman, Sheik, Shulk, Meta Knight, Rosalina and Luma, and Sonic the Hedgehog.  The reveal trailer also mentioned certain amiibo would be released exclusively in certain stores, but did not specify which amiibo or which stores.

Outside of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, Nintendo has yet to reveal any games that can actually interact with amiibo. Certain games like Hyrule Warriors and Mario Kart 8 will give the player extras when they connect an amiibo to the system, but the games themselves do not rewrite any data on the amiibo itself, just reward the player for owning a Nintendo amiibo.

Gamers can speculate which figurines will work for what future games (Captain Bowsers Treasure Tracker please!) but some can more easily lend themselves than others. Xenoblade Chronicles will be exclusive to the New 3DS, which has NFC capabilities, so the Shulk figurine is a no brainer there.

Lucario might have some functionality in the upcoming Pokken Tournament which is planned for a Japan Arcade release in 2015. King Dedede, Meta Knight, and Kirby could easily have their own extras in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse (2015).

The first wave of amiibo launch with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS on November 21st. The second wave is planned for a December 2014 release, and the third wave is planned for release February 2015.
