Giaco Furino joined the TechRaptor team as a Staff Writer in 2019 after searching for a dedicated place to write and talk about Tabletop Games. In 2020, he was named Deputy Tabletop Editor at the site, assisting in the assignment and editing of Tabletop reviews, previews, and features. In 2021, he took the helm as Tabletop Editor, overseeing all aspects of Tabletop gaming coverage on TechRaptor.
Giaco has been involved in the Tabletop industry for over a decade, working as the manager of Twenty Sided Store, a board game and RPG shop in Brooklyn for years before moving into writing full-time. As a freelance entertainment journalist with a focus on Tabletop, Giaco has traveled to the offices of Wizards of the Coast for a "day in the life" feature article, interviewed countless Tabletop personalities and creators, and wrote one of the first highly visible articles on VICE about the new surge of D&D players when Fifth Edition first released.
Today, as Tabletop Editor at TechRaptor, Giaco handles a large bulk of gaming reviews, from keeping up on all things Warhammer to covering the latest releases from the largest board game companies in the world. He also assigns and edits articles from an incredible team of TechRaptor writers, covering Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons, and more. He believes the deepest, most strategic war game deserves just as much time and attention as a family-friendly, super-light board game, and wants TechRaptor's Tabletop Section to be a welcoming place for all kinds of gamers. Whether you're looking for a review of the latest D&D book, or a fun new family game to take with you on vacation, TechRaptor's Tabletop Section will have what you need to have more (analog) gaming fun!
In his day job, Giaco is a Branded Content Strategist with a focus on Tech and Entertainment, helping ideate and pitch ideas to advertising clients across a broad array of passion points, topics, and anchoring sites. Giaco is also the co-writer of the feature film The Ranger, an independent horror movie about a group of punks who get lost in the woods, which premiered at South by Southwest in 2018. When he's not building Warhammer models for review, or trying out the latest big box board game release, you can catch him out on the town getting dinner with friends, teaching board games at his local comic shop, and working on his next screenplay.
