Austin cut his teeth writing various fan-fiction stories on the RuneScape forums when he was in elementary school. Later on, he developed a deep love for flash games and wrote various blog posts on the hottest new flash title. Austin has over five years of journalism experience, having worked for newspapers and for Frederator. He started writing for TechRaptor in 2018 and hasn't looked back since. To Austin, reviews, previews and interview features are his favorite forms of writing and you'll find his portfolio comprises just that.
On TechRaptor, Austin's carved a niche for himself by covering most boomer shooters, anything Fire Emblem or remotely similar to it, and whatever else might pique his interest. He fulfilled a lifelong dream by attending E3 2019 with several other TechRaptor staff members, which was one of the highlights of his video game journalism career.

Battle Axe doesn't care for your time and relies on cheap tricks like out-of-view trap placement and an astonishingly small pool of lives. Not to mention that there is an incredible amount of accessibility options missing, all of which detracts from the stellar pixel art. Battle Axe feels like a mess.

It's no wonder that Monster Hunter Rise's sales are through the roof worldwide. The series became mainstream with World, and many gamers are realizing just how addicting the formula for this series is. Monster Hunter Rise does a wonderful job of introducing new mechanics while feeling similar to past entries, and it even looks damn good too. I truly fear for society's free time, as I am sure it has diminished greatly for those who picked up Rise.

The pulp, retro aesthetic and themes of The Outer Worlds is a prime setting for a good ol' murder mystery, and what do you know? The second and final DLC for Obsidian's RPG, Murder on Eridanos, provides just that. While the previous DLC, Peril on Gorgon, featured a heavier emphasis on combat, reading through notes and terminals, and listening to audio logs, Murder on Eridanos is a conversation-heavy, slower adventure that takes advantage of The Outer Worlds' stellar dialogue system.

My opinion from 2013 remains relatively unchanged—Super Mario 3D World is a fun and buttery smooth, if a bit generic experience as far as Mario games go. Bowser's Fury, on the other hand, makes up for this experience by offering a fresh, challenging and frantic experience featuring a beefed up and very angry version of Bowser.

It has vikings, Norse mythology, low-poly graphics, and fantasy elements. Still, Valheim hasn't quite captivated me yet, but it is easily one of the most polished, competent titles in Early Access to date.

If there's one thing I've learned from HROT, it's that Czechoslovakia was a weird place in the late 80s. In my time with the first episode of this Early Access shooter, I came across floating, projectile-shooting heads, teleporting, gas mask-clad soldiers, and a rocket-shooting gymnastics pommel horse out for blood. That's just some of the horrors you'll come across in this trip of a retro FPS.
