Every week we have some stories that the TechRaptor Staff let slip through the cracks. We let them fall into this special net, which uses an Atari 2600 as a funnel. This funnel pushes it all into a TRS-80 which we siphon through a 56k modem to make sure it's still fresh. So without further adieu, here is the news you may have missed this past week:
GTA V Bustin' a Cap in older Xbox 360s
Looks like the elder Xbox 360s are having some issues with Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V gameplay. People are complaining of freezes in the game play to the point they need to shutdown and reboot. The issues seem to be going on with 360s that were bought or have been refurbished from 2006 to 2008. From what it looks like it's the ones that did not have an HDMI port seem to be the culprit, before the chip change. Rockstar is looking to see if this is a patchable issue while Xbox Support is giving the following support:
- Delete all GTAV game data.
- Clear system cache three times.
- Delete marketplace data from storage system items.
- Unplug console for three minutes.
- Install disc 1.
- Power off, do not insert disc 2.
- Restart.
- Install disc 2.
- Play.
Blackberry taking BBM Messenger and Going Home
More and more bad news for Blackberry this week as the anticipated Blackberry Messenger app for Android and iOS was delayed due to 'volumes of data traffic orders of magnitude higher than normal for each active user and impacted the system in abnormal ways'. Basically they were not ready for the 1 Million + users at the start of the app. It was halted to make sure they were ready. The app should be out this weekend. In the midst of all the problems it was also reported that Blackberry is selling off all of their corporate airplanes. And finally Blackberry announced that they have agreed to go private with Fairfax Financial.
Cyanogen gets it's first phone- The Oppo N1
After announcing last week that they are a full company now, Cyanogen showed off their first partner and phone. The Oppo N1 is a 5.9" phone with a Snapdragon 600 processor and 2GB of RAM. The very cool feature of this phone is it's rotating 13-megapixel camera with dual LEDs. The real cool feature of this phone is that it will come with Oppo's Android 4.2 custom UI, but will have an option of being able to install Cyanogen right out of the box. They are even releasing a Cyanogen version of the N1 which will come with Cyanogen installed out of the box. No other information has been released but hopefully it will be released Stateside, but doubtful.
