Cliff Bleszinski, developer of Unreal Tournament and Gears of War, has come out of retirement. Popularly known as CliffyB, Cliff announced his retirement October 3, 2013 saying he had been working on games long enough and it was time for a break. However on his Twitter account today, Bleszinski announced the end of his retirement, and to expect details on his next game within the week. CliffyB seems to have hinted at this in the past, such as posting various screenshots of an unknown game called Silverstreak. Perhaps this is the game we can expect to hear about? Only time will tell.

It is worth mentioning that last year, the Gears of War developer reached out to Phil Fish, developer of Fez, who was also retired, pleading for his return to the industry, going as far as to tease he may follow in his footsteps if Fish did so. But now that Mr. Bleszinski has returned, will Fish reciprocate the gesture? Likely not, given his recent outcry on Twitter over Let's Players receiving ad revenue for posting gameplay videos. But perhaps with CliffyB leading by example it may be possible? Then maybe Phil Fish will make Fez 2. And Gabe Newel will be so inspired that he makes Half-Life 3? One can dream.
