According to a post on the official Driveclub Facebook account the anticipated PlayStation Plus edition has been postponed seemingly indefinitely.
The free edition of Driveclub was supposed to be released during the October 7th launch of the title for PlayStation Plus subscribers but was delayed until November of this year. However according to Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony's World Wide Studios, the PlayStation Plus edition of Driveclub will postponed until further notice. According to several other websites covering this Driveclub has had a number of problems since release and this announcement only further damages the title and, as a result of poor handling, Sony.
"We are also very conscious that we have disappointed so many of you who were looking forward to playing the promised PS Plus Edition. Our first priority is to provide you with the best possible experience while playing DRIVECLUB. With the high volume of new players and additional server load the PS Plus Edition is anticipated to bring, we are currently not confident that we can guarantee the best online experience. Until we can ensure that everyone can enjoy the full social connected online experience, we will be postponing the release of the PS Plus Edition until further notice."

Story of the 2nd DRIVECLUB Delay (October 13, 2014)
The PlayStation 4 exclusive Driveclub from Evolution Studios, makers of the Motor Storm series, released earlier this week after being delayed for close to year. Though absent from the mix was the highly anticipated PlayStation Plus Edition. Driveclub was supposed to be a launch title for Sony’s PlayStation 4 with an added bonus if you were a PlayStation Plus member.
PlayStation Plus members were going to receive Driveclub PS+ Edition free of charge once the game launched. Now that the game has launched you would expect that said PS+ members would receive the game, but due to server connectivity issues, Evolution Studios decided to hold back the release of the free version.
A statement was published on the game's Facebook page -- "In order to help all Driveclub players who have the game already, we're temporarily holding back the PS Plus Edition and the My Driveclub app to ease the load and traffic to the servers. This should give players a better chance of connecting to the game servers and, once the servers are operating well, we’ll be sure to let you know when the PS Plus Edition and My Driveclub app will be available to download.”
There is still no word on when the PS+ Edition will be released.
The full version of the game is available at your local retailer for $59.99 if you prefer a physical copy, or digital download for $59.99 or $49.99 if you are a PS+ member on the Playstation Network.
Story of the 1st DRIVECLUB Delay (October 08, 2014)
It was announced last night that the PlayStation Plus Edition of Driveclub will be delayed. Developer, Evolution Studios, broke the news early this morning on the game's official Facebook page, marking the latest in a long series of delays the title has suffered.
The Facebook post cites unspecified server issues as the reason for the delay, and promises updates, although no updated release date for the PlayStation Plus Edition was given as this article goes live. A short time ago, however, Evolution Studios tweeted that the European PlayStation Plus Edition would not be available today, which makes it seem increasingly likely that North American PlayStation Plus members won't be receiving access to the game today. From the language of the tweet, Driveclub's PlayStation Plus Edition could be several days out.
The Driveclub companion app for iOS and Android has also been delayed until Evolution Studios is able to release updates to the servers in the coming days, relieving them of connectivity issues that have plagued the full version of the game since its release yesterday. This article will be updated as new information becomes available regarding the release of both the companion app and the PlayStation Plus version of the game.
For what it's worth, Driveclub wasn't the only PlayStation title experiencing issues yesterday, with players reporting problems downloading the newly-released NBA2K15. AskPlayStation responded to gamers on Twitter, also mentioning Destiny, seemingly unaware of Bungie's scheduled maintenance.
