There's no shortage of love for stealth games recently, and now a new one seeks to enter the arena. Taking hints from other greats in the genre, Aragami is also looking to leave its own mark before sneaking away.

Developed by Lince Works, a new independent game studio from Spain, and published by Merge Games, Aragami was originally announced under the title of Twin Souls: The Path of Shadows. Unfortunately, the game was originally a Kickstarter failure only making $31,000 of its $70,000 goal. In a postmortem about it, the developers listed several problems with the Kickstarter, including bad timing, a video that didn't really give an idea of what the game was, boring character design, and being visually too dark. They mentioned in the postmortem that they were looking for more traditional funding, and it appears they found it.Aragami Screenshot

The game puts you in the role of Aragami, an assassin who has been brought back from the dead by a young woman named Yamiko. Your goal is to rescue Yamiko from the Kaiho: a clan that has light-based powers. Luckily, Aragami can control shadows to assist him on his quest.

A third person stealth game, Aragami has you stealthy assassinating Kaiho members as you infiltrate their fortress. Aragami has the ability to control shadows, which means you can do things like move them around to better locations or extend them to help you sneak around a little more. In the trailer of the game Aragami is also seen throwing shadows like knives to kill enemies or use them to directly blind enemies. Most interestingly is when he is able to create dragons and snakes out of the shadows to pull enemies into them. Enemies aren't total wimps however, as they have skills of their own including shooting out shock waves of light from their weapons.

Aragami will also feature a soundtrack by video game composers Two Feathers. Notably Two Feathers has also worked on games like HammerwatchToca Life: City, and Angry Birds 2. Developer Lince Works has also noted that they are receiving some support from Sony Computer Entertainment, but did not expand on what the support was.

Aragami is coming to the PlayStation 4 and Steam in Fall 2016. There is no current price announced.
