The Baptiste release date for Overwatch has been set! In addition, the developers have answered some questions about the game's newest hero. Baptiste was first unveiled back in February and quickly found himself on the PTR along with a bunch of hero changes. Now, we know that we'll be able to play the Haitain hero on March 19, 2019, thanks to a tweet from the game's official account.

The Q&A session is particularly interesting for lore nerds. If you've ever wondered why Baptiste joined Talon or what he's up to at the current point in the timeline, you should definitely read the Q&A in full before the Baptiste release date. It's spoiler-free, so you can only read about the parts that you're actually interested in.

As for gameplay, the devs explain their logic regarding Baptiste's kit. As an example, some might feel that Immortality field is overpowered, but Geoff Goodman has a reasonable response:

Immortality field feels as powerful as an ultimate ability – why did you decide to make it a regular ability?

Geoff Goodman: The Immortality Field has many disadvantages compared to other support ultimates such as Transcendence and Sound Barrier. If a Baptiste player can work around these disadvantages they can potentially use this ability to even stop another team’s ultimate, which can be a huge advantage to his team. This is one of the things that makes Baptiste so exciting to play!

There's a lot more interesting stuff in there, so go ahead and give it a read! As for the game's newest hero, the Baptiste release date is March 19, 2019. Who we get next is a mystery, but odds are it won't be Echo.

Will you boot up Overwatch on the Baptiste release date? What do you think of the hero's kit and design so far? Let us know in the comments below!
