Microsoft has recently unveiled free unlimited OneDrive storage for Office 365 subscribers! To find out more, check after the break!
On the Onedrive blog today, Microsoft laid out plans to give Office 365 users unlimited OneDrive storage, for no extra cost. There are a few requirements, however. You must have an active Office 365 Home, Personal, or University subscription. For those users, the rollout will happen over the next few months, however, they can request on the OneDrive preview site for earlier access. For OneDrive business users, the storage upgrade will begin to be rolled out in early 2015.
It's quite interesting to see this unfold, as Microsoft gave 1TB of free storage to Office 365 users in June of this year. While Microsoft is certainly trying to compete with both Dropbox and Google Drive, this seems to point towards an interconnected future for Microsoft's productivity services. With the recently announced Windows 10 attempting to win back enterprise users, Microsoft seems to be preparing their platforms to give them an even better experience than before.
After the 1TB storage offer from earlier this year, Dropbox had slashed its pricing in half to try and compete with OneDrive, but Google did nothing. Eventually, Google Drive will most likely have to lower its own prices to keep up, but if Microsoft continues this trend of price lowering, Dropbox might face a precarious situation. Google and Microsoft are massive companies that have become household names, Dropbox has not. While Dropbox has become a successful company, they might not have the resources to keep up with their competitors. It's going to be an intriguing battle for cloud supremacy, and Redmond's finest are preparing for the war.
