Nordic Games GmbH is expanding once again.

The Swedish game publisher has acquired several intellectual properties from bitComposer, a German development team which previously owned the rights to Jagged Alliance, a tactical strategy game series where players play as a group of mercenaries on dangerous missions for cash.

The Jagged Alliance series is quite popular, with several spinoff and a few remakes of the first game of the series out on the market today. The latest versions include a port of Jagged Alliance for the Nintendo DS, Jagged Alliance: Crossfire by bitComposer, and a kickstarter, Jagged Alliance: Flashback, which received poor reviews upon release.

"The decision to acquire Jagged Alliance was an absolute no-brainer for us,” stated Reinhard Pollice, Nordic Games Business and Product Development Director.

Jagged Alliance was the marquee pickup by Nordic Games, but through the deal with bitComposer, they also were able to acquire Panzer Tactics HD, North and South, Citadels, and Giana Sisters-Twisted Dreams.

“The other titles in said acquisition coupled with the license- and distribution rights to other IPs are a great opportunity to further expand our range of games.” stated Pollice.

Nordic Games Licencing AB of Sweden is handling the acquisition, while day-to-day sales will be done through Nordic Games GmbH, based in Vienna, Austria.

Nordic Games was founded back in 1993 by Lars Wingefors. Within the past few years, Nordic Games has began acquiring assets of their own, starting with the IP catalog of JoWooD Entertainment and The Adventure Company, which have become publishing labels for the company. Their most famous acquisitions include most of the THQ IPs after the company went under, including Darksiders, Red Faction, DeBlob, and MX vs ATV.

Nordic Games is responsible for distribution of titles in Scandinavia, acquiring over 50 shops and an online store from retailer Game back in 2012.

bitComposer was founded in 2009 in Germany, and purchased the rights to the Jagged Alliance series back in 2010. The intention was to release Jagged Alliance 3 in 2011, but the title never came out. bitComposer was also involved in a dispute over the S.T.A.L.K.E.R licence with GSC GameWorld.
