If you were still in grade school when Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire released, you probably remember all those playground stories about how you could ride a rocket and fight Deoxys on the moon; or the tales about how you could find Jirachi or some other rare Pokemon in space. Of course, the overall story had different variations depending on where you grew up - but the idea of going to space aboard a Mossdeep City space shuttle is about as old as the games themselves. In some ways, it seems appropriate that the remakes of these titles will help realize these childhood fantasies.

Today Pokemon Company International revealed a new post-game story debuting in the soon-to-be-released Pokemon remakes, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire - and, among other things, it seems this playground myth is about to see itself realized! Alongside some new information regarding the legendary Pokemon that you'll be able to catch in these new installments in the franchise, it was also announced that you'll be able to go into space on Mega Rayquaza - a powered-up version of the Pokemon Emerald box mascot - to fight and catch a previously event-exclusive Pokemon, Deoxys.

This new plot coincides with some slight variations that the original games' plots will be undergoing in order to explain the emergence of Pokemon X and Y's new Mega Evolution mechanic (also present in these upcoming titles!) Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire have already been showing off a bunch of new content - one of the new mechanics allows you to fly in a 3D overworld; a series first! - but todays info dump really seems to take the cake! As someone that grew up playing Pokemon Sapphire, and then later Pokemon Emerald, seeing new content like this is perhaps the most exciting information that's come out for the games thus far (though Super Contests and Super Secret Bases do come awfully close!)

The new titles are scheduled to release next Friday - November 21st - in every region except Europe. Although I won't be the one reviewing it, look forward for our review coming soon!
