The original Gravity Rush on PlayStation Vita enjoyed a respectable amount of critical praise, boasting a score of 83 on Metacritic. Following that success, fans were delighted to hear last year that the original game would be receiving a sequel, Gravity Rush 2. Now, thanks to a recent post on the PlayStation blog, that sequel has a release date; December 2nd of this year. The announcement also came along with a brand new trailer for the game that you can check out below:

Gravity Rush 2 will also include multiple pre-order bonuses for the game. Pre-order the game from participating retailers and receive an alternate white costume for the protagonist Kat, as well as a soundtrack which includes nine tracks from the game. If you pre-order the game from the PlayStation Store you will be immediately rewarded with ten PSN avatars from the game. Pre-orders for the game go live on the PlayStation Store on August 2nd.

A release date and pre-order bonuses aren't the only Gravity Rush 2 news to come out yesterday. The PlayStation Blog post that revealed the game's release date also announced that a new anime will be launching soon that will bridge the gap between events from the original Gravity Rush and Gravity Rush 2. The new anime is titled Gravity Rush The Animation ~ Overture, according to the blog post. The anime is being produced by Studio Khara, a studio best known for their work on Rebuild of Evangelion. As of now, the anime does not have a release window other than some time before the launch of Gravity Rush 2

Gravity Rush 2 is being developed by Sony's Japan Studio, the development studio behind Knack and the Patapon series. The game is set to launch this December as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. The original Gravity Rush launched as a Vita exclusive, but a remaster for the game brought it to the PlayStation 4 earlier this year.
