Forward to the Sky Key Art

It’s a special day in an Indie games life when it feels that its far enough along to produce a trailer and send it off to Steam Greenlight to try to push through. And that step is one that Indie Dev Magicnology reached with its Action Adventure game Forward to the Sky!

Built in the Legend of Zelda mould, Forward to the Sky features a protagonist exploring the ruins of the Sky Tower. The past is hidden, as the protagonist collects crystals that slowly reveal what has happened as you go towards the top to when it will all be revealed.

With a princess protagonist, the game features gameplay in puzzles, platforming and combat in a third person perspective. The game has a focus on puzzles whether it is brick puzzles, elemental ones or traps among others that you have to defeat. There are 6 unique levels planned for the release of Forward to the Skies.

The game features a bright, refreshing colour scheme to go with relaxing music. The art mixes well with the adventurous and fun tones to create an experience aimed at everyone that looks quite nice despite the games limited budget.

Magicnology has been quite open through the design process with its blog having a lot of discussion about the stages they went through, concept art and how they made the decisions they did. They had a failed indiegogo campaign previously this year but continued to work on the game and it’s to have been polished quite a bit and worked hard on despite the lack of crowdfunding for the art assets they were wanting to purchase.

Given the quality of design in the screenshots seen and in their trailer it would appear they’ve managed to figure out alternative funding, alternative ideas or some other solutions as nothing I’ve seen appears to be out of place or less than very stylistic.

The planned release is for Quarter 4 2014 at an estimated USD $9.99 which appears quite reasonable for the game.

It is on Greenlight which you can support here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=330156875

And of course its trailer if you want to see yourself:
