Fable Legends, the newest spin-off game in the Fable franchise, has just been announced to be a free to play title. Fable Legends will be a 4v1 multiplayer fable experience where you can play as either one of four heroes fighting the forces of evil or play as a villain and command your troops in an attempt to crush the heroes.
Fable Legends will be released on Xbox One and Windows 10 and will be one of the first games to support cross platform between the two.
To alleviate any fears of consumers on the Fable Legends a F.A.Q has been created to explain how they plan to run the game. The first thing that is extremely stressed is that you don't have to pay a cent on the game and you can play from the beginning to the end. While playing the game all of the different characters will be completely free to play but they will move in and out of rotation after a set amount of time.
All of the stats of heroes as well as equipment that you have given them will stay with them even when out of rotation so that when they're back in rotation they will be just as you've left them. If you want to be able to play with a character out of the regular rotation then you will be able to earn them through gameplay or by purchasing them.
People who do want to pay will not get an advantage over those who don't pay, apparently the things that you pay for don't affect the gameplay at all.
You will be able to customize your character with in-game silver that you have earned or by purchasing it with real world money. They will be some cosmetic items that are only available through real world money transactions. While playing as the villain creatures that are not native to a map will have to be unlocked through game progression or by purchasing them.
Fable Legends will be one of the first games to be multiplatform across Windows 10 and Xbox One and with that not only do you get to play with the other platform but any purchases that you make in one version of the game will carry over to the other, so if you were to get a cosmetic upgrade on Fable Legends for Xbox One then you can access it on Fable Legends for Windows 10.
