In November of 2015 Dragon Fin Soup launched on Steam, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita. This tactical RPG/Rougelite hybrid initially launched to some negative reviews saying that the game needed more polish. Now it seems the developers are trying right their mistakes with Dragon Fin Soup: Extra Chunky Edition.

While the Steam version of the game has been getting regular updates, this new edition seeks to be the definitive edition and bring the biggest updates yet. To help them with this developers Grimm Bros is bringing in a second developer, Twitchy Thumbs Entertainment, to assist with their project. New content will include new dungeons, pets, items, a new "trash talk" system, and all the general bug fixes and new additions that the past few updates have added.

You may have noticed I said the game came out on the PlayStations but that only the Steam version was getting regular updates. One of the biggest complaints was that the PlayStations versions of Dragon Fin Soup felt abandoned and that they weren't getting the updates the Steam version was getting. Developers Grimm Bros talked about this a few months back, saying that the PlayStation version was handled by another studio named Blit Works who either couldn't or wouldn't patch that version of the game.

Thankfully it seems like the addition of Twitchy Thumbs Entertainment will allow them to fix this one, as Dragon Fin Soup: Extra Chunky Edition will also be applied to the PlayStation versions of the game as well, adding in all of the patches that the Steam version has seen. Grimm Bros apologized for the delay in patching the PlayStation versions and said that all PlayStation owners will be getting a free copy of Dragon Fin Soup on Steam to tide them over until Dragon Fin Soup: Extra Chunky Edition launches. The developer also took the time to apologize to anyone who has yet to receive their Kickstarter rewards, saying that the member of the team that was supposed to handle that was hurt in an accident and will go back to working on them when he recovers.

In addition to fixing up the PlayStation versions, Dragon Fin Soup: Extra Chunky Edition will be released on the Xbox One, iOS, Android, and FireTV, marking the first time the game is coming to those platforms. The game will also be getting Mac and Linux ports.

Dragon Fin Soup: Extra Chunky Edition is slated for a late 2016 release. There is no price point yet, though Dragon Fin Soup currently costs $19.99 so expect it to be around there.
