Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2

In a press release from Bandai Namco, a new batch of details regarding Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has been revealed.

Starting off, an iconic character who was absent from the first game will be appearing in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. Majin Vegeta, the classic and darkest form of Vegeta will be a playable character in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.

Following that, the press release covered returning and brand new online game modes. Fighting with your own unique character in both ranked and non-ranked modes will return, as well as the "Endless Fight" mode, which has a brand new option to fight without character levels and stats, leaving the fight to pure skill. One of the brand new game modes is a "Ground breaking 6v1 expert mode" where 6 players team up against one boss character, like a Great Ape. You will have to pay attention to your teammates, as the boss can send them into a sub level, where they have to complete another fight before returning to the boss fight.

Expert Missions (1)

The amount of quests is touted to be twice the amount of the first Dragon Ball Xenoverse and includes new versions of Parallel Quests from the first game. Additionally, there is a new system in place for rare drops of items and skills, allowing players to try and hunt for the costumes, accessories and abilities that they want.

Lastly, fans of the game in Europe will get a chance to play in the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Beta. More details are coming soon but in this open beta, players will be able to "explore Conton City, and have fun discovering expert missions".

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on October 28, 2016.

Quick Take

I am ecstatic about Xenoverse 2, it really sounds like they learned from what didn't work in the first game. I'm a little skeptical about the promise of "twice as many quests as there were before" especially considering that they followed that statement with "new versions of quests from Xenoverse". I am very excited for these expert boss fights. In the trailer from Gamescon, we saw one player turn into a giant Namekian while fighting a Great Ape, and for the first time, it actually makes me want to play as a Namekian!
