Dead Rising 4

Following our coverage of Dead Rising 4's E3 announcement, it would seem that the Xbox One and Windows 10 release will only be a timed exclusive.

In accordance to Gamespot, Microsoft recently issued a press release which has stated that the Xbox One partnership will only be for one year, with the Windows 10 deal set to end within the first 90 days. While Capcom has not yet announced a PlayStation 4 version, the possibility is likely given how popular the console is in Japan.

This isn't the first time that Capcom has done deals with Microsoft. Back in 2013, Dead Rising 3 was launched as an Xbox One exclusive, up until its PC release 10 months after. Though unlike their current partnership, Dead Rising 3 was never released on PlayStation 4.

Starring Dead Rising lead protagonist Frank West, Dead Rising 4 will feature the same absurd gameplay that you have come to expect from the series. While details over the plot remain scarce, Dead Rising 4 will be set 16 years after the initial events, and will once again take place in the Willamette Megaplex Mall.

While there is no exact release date, Dead Rising 4 is scheduled to launch this holiday season for Xbox One and Windows 10. For more of our Dead Rising 4 coverage, be sure to take a look at Alex's gameplay impressions.

Quick Take

I'll admit, I was really annoyed when I first heard that this game was going to be an Xbox One exclusive. Frank West is one my most favorite Dead Rising characters, and I would've hated the idea of missing out because of some agreement with Microsoft.

Thankfully we're not going to have another console exclusive repeat with Dead Rising 4. Mind you, it still sucks having to wait another year (or more) for the bloody thing to come out on PlayStation 4.

What are your thoughts on Dead Rising 4? Are you excited for the release? What are your thoughts on playing as Frank West once again? Will you be picking up an Xbox One just to play it? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
