CAYNE

The Brotherhood, developers of the isometric point & click horror game STASIShave announced a new free game called CAYNE according to a post on STASIS' Steam Community page. A trailer has accompanied the new game's announcement:

The developers begin the post by stating that they don't plan on discounting STASIS again for a while. Both the normal and deluxe editions of STASIS are discounted for the 2016 Steam Summer Sale.

CAYNE is a side story that has loose ties to STASIS. The player character is a pregnant woman named Haley who awakens in a medical facility. She is nine months pregnant and the antagonists of the game are after her unborn child. Gameplay will consist of the standard tropes one would see in an adventure game - exploring, clicking on absolutely everything, and combining items to move on to the next section.

The game takes place in the same universe as STASIS but there's no risk of spoiling the story - it's a completely original side story. The developers estimate CAYNE to have 1.5 hours of gameplay.

CAYNE was created as a result of the $140,000 stretch goal from the STASIS successful 2013 Kickstarter campaign. The developers stated that they went "back and forth" on the decision to release the side story for free but ultimately decided that it would be a good way to introduce people to the world that they had created.

The developers have also stated that they've begun work on a brand new adventure game in addition to talking about STASIS' discount and the release of CAYNE. They will once again be turning to crowdfunding to support the development of this new endeavor.

If you're interested in grabbing CAYNE you will be able to download it directly from the game's website when it releases in Q4 2016. You can follow it on the developers blog or their website. You can grab STASIS on Steam, the Humble Store, GOG.com, or directly from the developers for $24.99 or your regional equivalent.

Update: Originally there was a misunderstanding and the author thought Cayne  had been released. It was just announced. This has been corrected.
