For this weekend Treyarch have announced that the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta will is available to all PS4 users. The news came from Treyarch's twitter where they posted "Let’s dial this up a notch. The @PlayStation 4 #BO3Beta is now open for all PS4 players. Let’s go!".

Previously the only way to have access to the beta was if you had pre-ordered Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. As well as opening up the beta for wider access Treyarch have also increased the current level cap for players.

The beta has seven modes for players to try. Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, Demolition, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, and Capture the Flag. All of which have become staples of the franchise. There is also three maps, Hunted, Combine and Evac. Treyarch have given a brief description of all these maps.

  • Hunted: This big game hunting lodge is situated beneath a waterfall in the lush mountains of Ethiopia, where rugged terrain opens up to long sightlines and a stealthy underwater pathway.
  • Combine: Set in the remote Egyptian Sahara, this vertical farming and sustainability research facility plays fast and frenetic with tight interiors, an open middle, and a dangerous flank path.
  • Evac: An abandoned emergency evacuation zone atop an overgrown rooftop in the middle of Singapore's flooded quarantine zone.

The beta is expected to run through August 23, and betas for Xbox One and PC are expected to come August 26. It is not known if Treyarch will open these betas to everyone like they did on the PS4.
