The Game

With the release of the brand new Xbox One just weeks ago, majority of the gaming critics and community have had positive things to say about the unit as well as the solid stable of launch titles, with one of those being Dead Rising 3. Microsoft was able to keep the Dead Rising franchise as a console exclusive, following the success of the first two titles on the Xbox 360. Dead Rising 3, however, has raised the bar for the series. Featuring updated and solid graphics, an expanded city to explore, more weapon and vehicle combinations to make, as well as zombies. A SHITLOAD of zombies! The very first thing that's apparent from the get-go, is the amount of zombies on screen at one time. Capcom has given us a teaser of the processing power of this new generation of consoles by giving you three times as many zombie interactions on screen at any given time. The first time gazing at the amount of zombies after the initial cut scene is terrifying and daunting. They litter the highway you need to navigate to the point of you barely being able to see there's any concrete on the ground. With the new technology, coupled with a fantastic soundtrack, DR3 is a great game to spend hours mashing away zombies and chugging back some quality beer.

The game revolves around your character, Nick Ramos, a mechanic in the city of Los Perdidos. 10 years after the events in DR2, you find yourself trying to escape the city during the time frame of 7 days. Infected zombies have escaped out of coordinated containment zones and have now infested the city, threatening the city populace as well as the country. The government has issued a warning that at the end of the 7 days, they will completely quarantine the city and bomb it to bits in order to control and eradicate the zombie outbreak. Nick and a band of other survivors frantically try to make their way out of the city, all while trying to not be infected themselves or worse, ending up as lunch for a group of hungry zombies!

The Brew

Rogue was started by frat brothers Jack Joyce and Bob Woodell, their accountant Jeff Schultz, and another friend Rob Strasser back in 1988 in Ashland, Oregon. After realizing they needed to grow, the group then opened up another brewpub in Newport, Oregon, which is now where the company headquarters resides. Rogue prides themselves on a few things: Community involvement and using the best, finest, all natural ingredients they can get in the Pacific Northwest. Their philosophy is "variety is the spice of life" and that definitely shows in their beers. They have produced more than 60 different ales, all while being non-pasteurized and never using preservatives.

Their Dead Guy Ale, is a testament to their passion for beer. The Ale itself has a nice deep honey color to it, with a fantastic malty aroma. The taste leaves a hit of sweetness, almost honey like in flavor at first, then a nice sweet hop flavor going down, followed by a slightly bitter and dry finish that keeps you craving for more. This is by far, one of the smoothest ales I've had in quite some time, partially due to the mild-medium carbonation of the ale itself coupled with the fantastic flavor. The beer is only made with 7 ingredients total, including Rogue's proprietary "Pac Man" yeast.  It has a 6.5% ABV, making it above average as far as alcohol goes, which is a great fit for DR3. As you get into a couple of missions and take out a couple of bottles, you are now nice and toasty, making slicing and dicing some zombies even more enjoyable than previously!
